On Tuesday we had a busy night of extra-curricular clubs and fixtures. High numbers again at KS3 football club, we have been very impressed with the amount of students coming to the club this half term. This was also the case with Netball club, keep it up!
On Tuesday the Year 9 football team were also in action, playing in a cup game against Ercall Wood. They were managed by the Toulson Brothers who would now like to be known as the Directors of Year 9 Football. Unfortunately due to injuries and illness we struggled to field a whole team of year 9 lads, this meant that several year 8’s stepped up to the challenge and played for the older team with pride and passion. All players put in a terrific performance in a game that could have gone either way. Ercall Wood went 1-0 up quite early on, within the next 30 seconds Louis ‘Goal Machine’ Dwomor was through on goal and put a cheeky shot over the goal keeper to bring the game back to 1-1. The game was extremely exciting, Oli Robinson bagged a brace of goals including a penalty which resulted from Joe Giles being pulled down in the box. The final score was 5-3 to Ercall Wood. The year 9’s are next in action after half term. The Toulson brothers remain as interim directors of football for the year 9 team and continue to seek their first win of the season.
On Wednesday we travelled to Idsall for the final round of the Telford Schools Cross Country league. Chloe Childs showed fantastic form yet again and dominated to finish 4th out of 62 runners! All other runners improved on their results from their previous runs and look forward to next year’s competition where we hope to take more runners with us.
On Thursday we had over 40 students helping out in the PE department for our Open Evening. We show cased our fantastic facilities with a range of sports on the night, these included: The Fitness Suite, Badminton, Trampolining, Handball, Dance and Step Aerobics, lots for the future Langley students to experience. I’d like to thank all of the PE staff and the students who helped out on the night, they were amazing and did a great job of showing how good our PE department is. It wouldn't have been possible without them.
