Jessica Shaw, Jessica Colley and Rebecca Hayward are all keen freshwater ecologists from Year 8. Over the recent hot spell they became increasingly worried about the wildlife in our school pond as the water and oxygen levels fell dramatically. All three of the girls, who have been keeping a close eye on the pool for the last year, organised themselves so that they could top up the pond with extra water which they did every morning before school and each afternoon too! They managed to move about 250l litres of water in total, all carried in buckets from the main building to the eco gardens.
This week they bought new carp and shubunkins which they released into the pond, later in the year they plan to establish some new poolside plants.
