Here is the PE departments weekly roundup and stars of the week…
On Monday the year 10 footballers had a cup game against Burton Borough. Telford Langley showed great confidence and took control of the first part of the game. We went 2-0 up very early on, Burton Borough fought back to equalise and then went 3-2 up. We showed strength throughout the game but tired towards the end. Burton borough capitalised on this as they had several substitute options, the final score was 7-3 with goals coming from Kyle Roberts, Kyan Voyce and Ronan Owusu. The year 10 boys will be in action again within the coming weeks.
On Tuesday the KS4 Shropshire school games dodgeball qualifier had to be postponed due to illness within the school games organisers. This will be reorganised as soon as logistically possible.
On Tuesday, we also had a record 39 students attend KS3 extra-curricular football club. This is really impressive to see and we look forward to applying these skills into more intra school fixtures over the rest of the term and school year.
On Wednesday we attended the 3rd round of the Telford Schools cross country running competition which was held at Adams Grammar School in Newport. All of our runners performed exceptionally well in a very large ‘field’ of runners, no pun intended! The stand out performance went to Chloe Childs in Year 7 who finished in 4th position up against 60 other year 7 girls! Well done Chloe! We will be attending the fourth and final round of the cross country next Wednesday at Idsall School.
On Thursday the Year 7 boys had their first cup game for Telford Langley School, they were up against a very strong Idsall team. The team performed very well but were out played by Idsall and unfortunately lost 3-0. We didn’t quite pass the ball enough and failed to take the chances that we did get. Man of the match went to Anton Edwards who put in a sublime shift in the defence, working hard and saving us on several occasions throughout the whole game. A big thanks goes to our Y10 GCSE PE students- Dante Bradley and Landing Conteh for running the lines, they were rewarded with Vivos and chocolate!
